Creating and sharing a share link

Updated Jun 29, 2026 · 1 min read

Share a transcript with anyone — even people without a YT Transcriber account — using a secure, expiring share link.

Open the video detail page

Go to your Dashboard and click the video you want to share. The video detail page will open with the full transcript visible.

Click Share

In the toolbar, click the "Share" button (it shows a chain-link icon). A Share Link dialog will appear.

Configure expiry and download permissions

In the dialog, set two options:

  • Link expiry — choose how long the link stays active: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or Never expires.
  • Allow download — toggle this on if you want the recipient to be able to export the transcript as TXT, PDF, or SRT. Leave it off to make the link read-only.

Copy the link

Click "Generate Link". A shareable URL will appear in the dialog. Click "Copy Link" to copy it to your clipboard. You can also click "Regenerate" at any time to invalidate the old link and create a fresh one.

Share it — no account required for recipients

Paste the link into an email, Slack message, or anywhere else. The recipient will be able to view and search the transcript in their browser without creating a YT Transcriber account. If you enabled download permissions, they will also see export buttons. Your account settings and other transcripts remain completely private.
